What Is CBD Oil?
The cannabis oil industry is swiftly growing, and within it is a category experiencing its own rapid growth in popularity: cannabidiol hemp oil, also known as CBD hemp oil. These hemp-derived products are in high demand and can be purchased online and delivered straight to your door. They can also be found at retailers in all 50 states and in over 40 countries around the world. The CBD oil is made from high-CBD, low-THC hemp, differing from medical marijuana products, which usually have high concentrations of THC. Since hemp only contains trace amounts of THC, these CBD hemp oil products are non-psychoactive.
CBD is one of over 85 cannabinoids currently identified in the cannabis plant. It is the second most abundant cannabinoid found in marijuana after THC. In hemp, CBD dominates the plant’s makeup, and THC is only present in very small amounts. The non-psychotropic CBD interacts with our naturally occurring systems. It doesn’t cause a high, so it makes for a safer, less controversial alternative, while offering significant health benefits.
Why Use CBD Oil Supplements?
CBD has taken the natural products industry by storm, becoming a highly sought after compound in recent years. This is the result of highly publicized media exposure, including a CNN special on marijuana. Since then, there have been CBD oil products on shelves in medical marijuana dispensaries, doctors offices, and even grocery stores, with no medical card required to purchase.
How does CBD work?
It interacts with the body through endogenous cannabinoid system (ECS). Also known as the endocannabinoid system, ECS was first discovered in the late 1980s. The endogenous cannabinoid system regulates the body’s general state of balance, known as homeostasis. This impacts functions such as sleep, mood, hormone regulation, appetite, pain, and immune response. The ECS acts like an acrobat on a highwire, correcting our normal balance as the environment around us impacts it. This is done by mediating our body’s reaction to keep us level. The ECS is found in all mammals, and is made up of millions of cannabinoid receptor sites acting in neutral communication located primarily throughout the brain, central nervous system and immune system. The ECS doesn’t have to just rely on plant-based cannabinoids, as the human body is capable of producing its own cannabinoids. It’s clear that the ECS is one of the most important regulatory systems in the human body, but most people don’t do much to support the health of this systems since cannabinoids have been lacking in the average diet.
Where Does CBD Oil Originate?
It’s clear that CBD hemp oil is a natural botanical extract of the common hemp plant. Things get more complicated when it comes to regulatory limitations here in the U.S. in regards to growing and processing the hemp and getting it to consumers.
In the United States it is prohibited to grow hemp for commercial purposes, even with the passing of the 2014 Farm Bill. Approved reasons for growing the plant are resigned to pilot programs for research needs. Such restrictions are the reason why all the finished hemp goods that are for sale in America are part of an imported hemp industry that generates over $500 million annually. The size of this import industry serves as a major catalyst for hemp legalization in the United States. Hemp is a renewable source of a range of products, from food to clothing to building materials, thus making it a major new step in American agriculture. As of now, the hemp used for the creation of the high CBD products available in the U.S. is cultivated in various other countries around the world. Much of what we use for our CBD oil products is cultivated on farms in Europe. To make quality oil and products, not just any hemp crop is suitable. There are specific cultivars required so you can yield an extract high enough in CBD.
The hemp plant, which is naturally low in THC, and a non-psychoactive of cannabis, is grown in many countries around the world and imported into the U.S. for use in various products and industries. Hemp has thousands of unique varieties. The cultivars used for CBD oil have much higher concentrations of CBD than others. These uniquely potent plants allow for the extraction of cannabis oil that contains significant levels of cannabidiol, along with essential vitamins, minerals, flavonoids, fatty acids, and other non-psychoactive cannabinoids. CBD hemp oil also very different from the organic hemp oil or hemp seeds you usually find in the grocery store. Hemp seed oil is derived only from hemp seeds and makes for a great nutritional supplement but does not contain any cannabidiol.
How Are CBD Products Created Using CBD Hemp Oil?
Once specific cultivars are seasonally harvested, the high-CBD hemp crops go through an extraction process to yield a THC oil pen that is naturally high in cannabidiol. This is followed by testing of the pure hemp extract for quality, safety, and cannabinoid content. It is then exported to processing facilities in the U.S. It’s already serious and complicated to import any hemp or cannabis product into the U.S., so nothing can be left to chance before the hemp oil makes its overseas journey.
Once the hemp oil clears U.S. Customs inspection, it is tested as it reaches the facilities. Safety protocol must be followed so the final product can be safe and reliable. The imported bulk CBD hemp oil is then combined with other ingredients to create an extensive line of products.
Pure CBD Oils
Pure CBD oil, also known as Real Scientific Hemp Oil (RSHO) is the most potent type of CBD product available. The all natural hemp oil is simply extracted from the stalk of the hemp plant and tested for quality before being packaged for sale with no additives. Real Scientific Hemp Oil has the highest concentration of CBD, often carrying 100mg or more per serving.
